The lessons were led by a skilled piano teacher in Singapore, such as Adeline Yeo. A combines dedicated instruction in the fundamentals of rhythm, sight-reading, solfège, and music theory, along with practical exercises in scales, arpeggios, finger dexterity, improvisation, keyboard harmony, percussion composition, and flashcard reinforcement. This ensures you develop a strong foundation while fostering the joy of musical expression.

There are Grades 1-8 in private piano lessons. The student can make use of this opportunity and take exams hosted by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or by Trinity Guildhall, both of which are UK music exam boards.

1. scales and arpeggios

There will be a technical exercise where candidate needs to play out scales and arpeggios.

2. exam pieces

Candidate must play three prepared pieces as part of the exam.

3. sight-reading

After half a minute of preparation, the candidate will be given an unknown short piece to play.

4. aural tests

There will be a series of tests where the candidate will be tested through rhythm clapping, memory singing, pitch change, and answer questions based on listening skills.

Equivalent to fourth year undergraduate degree (duration of 45 minutes)

fellowship (FTCL)

Equivalent to a postgraduate course (duration of 50 minutes)

Candidates are assessed through an externally regulated and internationally recognised exam systems, with a 140 year of heritage that you can trust. This also helps the student determine their preferred genre – leisure, pop music, classical music, and so on.
